Hyperliquid doesn't burn HYPE with a dead address but with a buying one: the Assistance Fund spends ~98% of exchange fees buying HYPE every few minutes, holds 46.9M tokens, and validators voted to count them as burned. This page separates that from the 1.03M HYPE burned permanently, and sets both against monthly unlocks.
A snapshot at one moment — it has no 24-hour or 30-day meaning.
Supply never issued (the futureEmissions field) — reserved for future community rewards, with no published schedule.
HYPE at the Hyper Labs wallet 0x43e9…a251, currently fully staked. Not circulating, but NOT burned either — the largest supply overhang outside the unissued portion.
Not circulating but NOT burned either: the Hyper Labs wallet plus unissued supply, over max supply. This is the potential sell-side standing in front of any scarcity math.
Max supply minus current total supply. Hyperliquid reduces total supply at the protocol level (HyperEVM gas + HIP-1 listing-auction proceeds) — nothing goes to a dead wallet; 0x…dEaD holds just 2.7 HYPE. Irreversible.
HYPE held at 0xfefe…fefe — the Assistance Fund, which automatically spends 99% of trading fees buying HYPE on the open market. On 24 Dec 2025 validators voted with 85% of stake to recognize all of it as PERMANENTLY BURNED. The tokens still exist on-chain — a widely recognized governance commitment, not a code-level destruction.
Permanent burn plus the AF fund — total burned the way the market counts it since the 24 Dec 2025 vote.
Total burned over max supply (all components: permanent burn, plus the buyback fund where the token has one). For tokens with overhang, read it against that cell: is burning winning or losing against the supply still ahead?
Total USD the fund actually spent acquiring its HYPE (the on-chain entryNtl field). Divide by the balance for the average buy price — against the current price it shows the fund's unrealized P&L.
Current value of the fund's HYPE minus what it actually spent. The fund's average buy sits far below today's price, so the gain is large — but it is paper only: these tokens are recognized as burned and committed never to be sold.
Price times max supply — the market cap if every token were issued. The gap between FDV and market cap is the dilution still ahead.

Actual spend versus recorded revenue, computed on the everyday flow (one-off rounds from the events table are excluded so they don’t distort the ratio). Two independent sources — on-chain and DefiLlama — agreeing is evidence the data holds.

Locked tokens released into circulation — the sell-side force facing the burn. The next round says whether it is a published schedule or a projection from cadence.
Projected: the date is the most common day-of-month across recent rounds, the amount the average of the last 6. Published: the source lists date and amount in advance. Either can slip by a few days.
Buybacks plus permanent burns over the last 30 full days — the same scale as one monthly unlock round.
30-day burn divided by the next unlock amount. Above 1 = removal outpaces release in token terms; below 1 = the unlock is larger.

Released at TGE 29/11/2024: 373.120.000 tokens (123% of today's circulating), excluded from the rounds table — Community Grants 3.000.000 · Genesis Distribution 310.000.000 · HIP-2 120.000 · Hyper Foundation Budget 60.000.000.
Hyper Foundation published terms, not a calendar: Core Contributors (23.8% of supply) were locked for one year after the 29 Nov 2024 TGE, then vest linearly, mostly completing in 2027–2028. Rounds in this table are actual transfers from the Hyper Labs wallet to contributors, recorded on-chain by DefiLlama after the fact — so the next round is projected from the monthly 6th-of-month cadence, not an official schedule. The 411.9M HYPE of unissued Future Emissions has no schedule at all.
Hyperliquid is an on-chain perp exchange that collects perp and spot trading fees in USDC. Since December 2024 nearly all of it — 98% over 615 days by this ledger's measurement — flows into the Assistance Fund, a system wallet at 0xfefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefe that does one thing: place HYPE buy orders on the HYPE/USDC spot book every few minutes, tens to hundreds of tokens per fill. From 23 Dec 2024 to date it has spent $1.211B of $1.232B revenue and bought 35.68M HYPE. Its biggest day was 10 Oct 2025 — the market-wide liquidation cascade — when it bought 232,010 HYPE worth $8.7M in 24 hours, because that day's record volume pushed fees up with it.
Three things to keep in mind when reading buyback figures. One: the money is real fees, not newly issued tokens. Two: the fund buys in USD terms, so as HYPE's price rises the token count falls — in August 2025 it bought 2.54M HYPE for $110.5M, in August 2026 only 729K HYPE for $50.5M; reading "the burn is shrinking" without looking at price is a misread. Three: every fund fill is public through the Hyperliquid API; this ledger reads each one (over 20,000 fills in the last 30 days alone) and reconciles against DefiLlama revenue, matching almost exactly.
"HYPE burn" on ranking sites is usually one number, but it is two fundamentally different things. The first layer is permanent burn: HyperEVM gas paid in HYPE is destroyed, and so is the HYPE paid by winners of HIP-1 listing auctions (a Dutch auction every 31 hours for spot ticker slots). Total supply has therefore fallen from 1B to 998,970,615 — 1.03M HYPE that is truly gone.
The second layer is 45 times larger: 46.94M HYPE sitting in the Assistance Fund. On 24 Dec 2025 validators voted with 85% consensus to treat the fund's HYPE as burned — excluded from circulating supply, never to be sold. Technically, though, it remains a balance in a system wallet, and the fund's name states its original purpose: assisting users in unforeseen incidents. The fund's cost basis is $1.27B, an average of $27.10 per HYPE — far below where HYPE has traded since the second half of 2025.
That is why this page shows "permanent burn" and "fund buying" separately before combining them. Combined, 47.97M HYPE has been withdrawn from circulation — 4.8% of the 1B max supply, or 16% measured against the 298.6M circulating. Other sites pick one denominator, so the same burn can read as 5% or 16%; both are correct, they answer different questions.
The 1B max supply splits into four blocks by today's on-chain numbers: 298.6M circulating (29.9%); 46.9M in the Assistance Fund (4.7%); 241.5M in the Hyper Labs wallet (24.2%) — mostly the locked 23.8% Core Contributors allocation; and 411.9M never issued (41.2%), the Future Emissions and community rewards pool. Put differently, 7 of every 10 HYPE have not reached the market.
29 Nov 2024 (TGE) was the largest unlock and so far the only meaningful one: 310M HYPE (31%) went straight to users through the genesis airdrop, alongside 60M for the Hyper Foundation budget, 3M community grants and 120K for HIP-2. No comparable cliff has happened since. The only new issuance running today is validator staking rewards, drawn from the unissued pool — DefiLlama estimates about 9.6M HYPE through early 2026, roughly a 2–2.5% annual yield on staked supply.
The Hyper Foundation has never published a dated unlock calendar. The published terms are only this: Core Contributors were locked for one year after TGE, then vest linearly, mostly completing in 2027–2028 with some continuing beyond. On-chain reality: the first round of 1.75M HYPE landed on 29 Nov 2025, exactly one year in; the next, 1.13M, on 6 Jan 2026; then a steady cadence around the 6th of each month, growing from 140K (Feb 2026) to 420–450K (May–Aug 2026). Core Contributors have received 5.36M HYPE in total. DefiLlama records each transfer from the Hyper Labs wallet after it happens, so the "next round" in the table above is projected from that cadence — not an official schedule, and this ledger labels it as such.
Set against the fund: over the last 30 days the Assistance Fund bought 727K HYPE, 1.9 times the projected unlock; since December 2025 it has bought over 11.5M against 5.36M unlocked. HYPE is one of very few vesting tokens where revenue-funded buying exceeds the potential selling from unlocks — the reverse of most 2024–2025 listings. The real variable is not the 6th-of-month cadence but the 411.9M Future Emissions: no schedule exists, and only the Hyper Foundation decides when it is tapped.
On 26 Aug 2026 Hyperliquid activated AQAv2 (Aligned Quote Asset v2): 90% of the yield generated by the exchange's USDC reserves — roughly $5B — is routed to the Assistance Fund to buy HYPE. Coinbase acts as treasury deployer and Circle as technical deployer; yield accrues in 30-day cycles and is transferred to the fund 8 days after each cycle ends, the first on 3 Oct 2026. Market estimates put it at $135–160M per year; Hyperliquid has not confirmed a figure.
What it means for the burn ledger: for the first time, HYPE buying no longer depends entirely on trading volume. At current fee revenue (~$50M/month), AQAv2 could add 20–25% more buying power — and it is a flow that tracks USD interest rates, not market volatility. From October 2026 the days the fund receives yield will show up as spikes in the revenue and buyback columns above; this ledger will break that part out once the data lands.
Does Hyperliquid burn HYPE tokens?
Yes, in two ways. Permanent burn: HyperEVM gas and HIP-1 listing-auction proceeds actually destroy tokens — 1.03M HYPE so far, leaving 998.97M total supply. Assistance Fund buying: 98% of exchange fees buy HYPE that stays in the fund wallet — 46.94M HYPE, which validators voted on 24 Dec 2025 to count as burned. Most of the "HYPE burn" figure you see is the second layer.
What is the Hyperliquid burn address?
There is no 0x…dead-style burn wallet for most of the "burn". The Assistance Fund lives at 0xfefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefe on Hyperliquid L1 — tokens bought there still exist. Only HyperEVM gas and HIP-1 auction proceeds are destroyed at the protocol level, visible as a falling total supply rather than a balance at any address.
What percentage of Hyperliquid revenue goes to HYPE buybacks?
98% by this ledger's measurement: $1.211B spent on buybacks out of $1.232B fee revenue over 615 days since 23 Dec 2024. The remainder is fee flow that bypasses the fund (referral rewards, fee discounts). From 3 Oct 2026 the fund also receives 90% of USDC reserve yield via AQAv2 — a source outside trading fees.
What is the Assistance Fund's average purchase price?
$27.10 per HYPE: 46.94M tokens for a total cost of $1.27B — far below where HYPE has traded through 2026, so the fund sits on a large unrealised gain. The basis is low because the fund bought steadily from when HYPE traded under $10 (late 2024) and bought the most tokens in March–April 2025 at $13–20.
When is the next HYPE unlock?
There is no official schedule. Core Contributors have received tokens around the 6th of each month since 29 Nov 2025, recently 420–450K HYPE per round (about 0.14% of circulating). This ledger projects the next round from that cadence and labels it as a projection. The 411.9M Future Emissions block has no schedule at all.
Do HYPE unlocks outweigh the buybacks?
Not yet. Since December 2025 the fund has bought over 11.5M HYPE while Core Contributors received 5.36M; over the last 30 days the ratio is 1.9 to 1 in favour of buying. But unlocked tokens land in personal wallets that can sell, while fund-bought tokens are "burned" only by governance commitment — so the two sides are not perfectly symmetric.
Is HYPE deflationary?
On total supply: yes, but barely — 1.03M permanently burned out of 1B. On circulating supply: Core Contributor unlocks and staking rewards (from the unissued pool) add tokens, fund buying removes them, and removal is currently larger. HYPE is deflationary by the validators' accounting, not by a purely mechanical one.
What is AQAv2 and how does it affect the HYPE burn?
Aligned Quote Asset v2, activated 26 Aug 2026: 90% of the yield on ~$5B of USDC held on Hyperliquid goes to the Assistance Fund in 30-day cycles, first payout 3 Oct 2026, estimated at $135–160M a year. It is the first HYPE-buying source that does not depend on trading volume.
Where does this HYPE burn data come from, and how can I verify it?
Fund purchases: Hyperliquid's public API (userFills for 0xfefe…fefe), summed by day. Revenue: DefiLlama, reconciled against purchases. Total supply, fund and Hyper Labs balances: read on-chain. Unlock rounds: DefiLlama's emissions dataset, which tracks transfers out of the Hyper Labs wallet. You can look up the same address on Hypurrscan to check any individual fill.
